Dr. Donald Shroyer was drafted into the Army and served as a medical technician for a ‘MASH’ medical unit. While he was in the military, his parents moved to California. He graduated from Fresno City College and Fresno State and earned his Elementary School Teaching Credential at FSC. He received his Doctoral Degree in 1977.
He was employed by the Clovis Unified School District for forty-eight years. He served as a classroom educator and as an educational administrator on a full-time basis for thirty-five years. He then served the district as a consultant and advisor on a part-time basis for an additional thirteen years.
Don was active in his community, including serving as the Chairman of the Education Advisory Panel for the Big Fresno Fair, chairing the Herndon Redevelopment Advisory Board, and a member of the City of Clovis Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. He was involved in the local arts scene, serving on the Board of Directors for Center Stage Productions. He was a member of the Exchange Club of Clovis for thirty-five years.
