In 2010, Clovis native Jason Meyers became the first racecar driver from the state of California to win a World of Outlaws title and became the eighth driver in the history of the series to be crowned champion. He received a national recognition award at the 2011 Clovis Hall of Fame ceremony for his achievements in motorsports. Meyers was born and raised in Clovis. His stepfather, a former motorcycle racer, introduced Jason to racing. He won two International Kart Federation Championships, three Central Valley Championships, and 10 Track Championships between 1989 and 1993. In 1999, he placed second in the Golden State Challenge and recorded his first Mini Gold Cup Victory at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Meyers made his national debut with the Gumout Series and in 2001, entered the World of Outlaws Tour where he recorded his first victory. In 2004, he and Guy Stockbridge formed Elite Racing LLC. Between 2004 and 2009, the team scored many victories culminating in the 2010 World of Outlaws title.
