Harry Armstrong & Stan Oken

Mayor Harry Armstrong and Stan Oken were honored in 2000 with the Spirit of Clovis Award. This award was given to these gentleman for their tremendous effort used to complete the 168 freeway through Clovis. Mayor Armstrong as chairman of the Fresno County Transportation Board made many trips to Sacramento to lobby and leverage funding for the project.

Stan Oken served as Supervisor Representative on the Fresno County Transportation Board and past Vice President. He found that the funding was being held up until all the funding was obtained. Stan realized that this would add tremendous additional cost down the road. Stan had the needed drive to push the project to start and keep going until Clovis had its freeway!
