Dwight Kroll, a 1980 Graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, joined the City of Clovis, in 1981, as an Assistant Planner in the Clovis City Planning Department. Dwight's enthusiasm and creativity were displayed in his earliest work.
Joining the discussion on what to do with the deteriorating condition of the storefronts along Clovis Avenue, Dwight suggested that buildingĀ a walkway between two buildings, it would would provide an opportunity to create a "turn of the century" storefront design along Clovis Avenue. From the success of this idea, the Storefront Renovation Program was launched and today, Clovis' Old Town is one of our greatest treasures.
Dwight became Director of Planning and Development ServicesĀ in 2009, responsible for planning, engineering, building permits and inspections. As both a team member and now its leader, Dwight has focused his energy on developing a planning team that is focused on cohesive plans, creative solutions, practical implementations, and---perhaps above all---exceptional customer service for residence doing simple home improvement projects and to developers building new projects on hundreds of acres.
Dwight has been the driving force behind the development of our trail system; the highly-regarded Urban Village Design Concept; the Cottage Home movement; creative urban streetscape design in the annual "Taking It To The Streets" festival; and the transformation of the DMV lot into the beautiful Centennial Plaza.
The Clovis Hall of Fame salutes the tremendous contributions Dwight has made to our Community. He has elegantly linked our heritage to our future through his iconic designs that now define our public spaces and public buildings across our community... and that make Clovis the place that so many choose to live, work and play.
Dwight retired in 2020 aft 39 years of service to Clovis.
