Clovis Medical Center Hospital Guild received the Clovis Community Award for 2014. The Clovis Hospital Guild was begun in 1955 when a group of ladies met to discuss forming an organization to work on building a hospital for Clovis. The Guild received a charter to raise money and soon raised $50,000 toward purchasing land at DeWitte Ave and construction began. The dedication for The Clovis Memorial Hospital was held on July 27, 1964. As the hospital expanded so did the Guild, providing thousands of volunteer hours toward patient care and moving right along with the hospital when it moved to its present location. The Guild has assisted in many expansion projects and purchases that included the cardiac catheter laboratory, waiting rooms and TVs for all patient rooms. The Guild pledged $250,000 to provide assistance to new babies and their families. Their volunteers operate and staff an in-hospital gift shop. Also, the Guild joins with the Clovis Kiwanis and Rodeo Association to provide $1,500 to three Clovis graduating seniors that plan their future careers in the medical profession. The total gifts and pledges from 1955 to 2014 from the Guild to the hospital has reached the $1.25 million mark.
