William Mcfarlane

William McFarlane was inducted in the Clovis Hall of Fame in 1977 for his business and professional contributions to the community. A native of the Central Valley, McFarlane attended Clovis Union High school and transferred to the University of Southern California from Fresno State College. He created a partnership with his parents where they sold various crops and Muscat grapes. Soon, McFarlane became a leader in agriculture. He joined the Sun-Maid Raisin Growers Advisory Council, served as president of the Clovis-Sanger Cooperative Gin and California Cotton Growers Association, and became chairman of Calcot, Ltd. For 24 years, he was director of the Western Cotton Growers and for 17 years served on the board of the Blue Diamond Growers. McFarlane’s accomplishments and honors include being honored by the Clovis Unified School District for the naming of their McFarlane-Coffman Agricultural Center; his valuable effort in bringing the federal Reclamation Reform Act of 1982 into law; receiving the Co-Op Farmer of the Year Award (1994); receiving the Agriculturalist of the Year Award (1994) and the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce Agriculturalist of the Year Award (2000).
