Vincenzo "Jim" Sirimarco was born on October 22, 1892, in San Sosti, Italy, a town with historical roots dating back to 1020 AD. At 20 years old, he arrived in New York on June 14, 1912, aboard the steamship Oceania from Naples. He later settled in Gustine, CA, where he met and married Rosina "Rose" Fasano, who had emigrated from San Sosti with her family in 1904. Together, they had four children—Pietro "Pete," Maria "Mary," Carmela "Millie," and James II—before eventually relocating to Clovis, though the exact date remains undocumented.
In Clovis, Jim became a prominent community figure, co-founding the Rudolph Valentino Lodge No. 1449, Order Sons of Italy in America, in 1927. He initially worked as a shoemaker before entering the restaurant business, famously acquiring a restaurant in a poker game. That establishment became the well-known "Jim's Place," which played a role in Clovis' cultural history, even serving as the launching pad for country performers Double Gage in 1967.
Jim and Rose's legacy in Clovis endures, with their granddaughter, Rosalene Sirimarco Matteson, continuing the family's business tradition at Clovis Town and Country Realty.
