Michael also found time to support Cub Scout Packs 59, 147, 199 and 211 as well as Boy Scout Troops 60, 147, 199, 211 and 354. He also advised Sea Scout-Ship 063 (Golden Eagle) and the Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow. Michael served as the First Vice President of American Legion Post 147 and as their Area 3 Scouting commissioner, blending his interests in Veteran's affairs and the importance of scouting. He Retired from the CANG in 2005 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He retired from FSU in 2011 after 26 years of service with the university. Church plays an important role in Michael's life.
