Mary Grace Martin

Mary Grace Martin, born in Clovis in 1910, was deeply rooted in her community and its history. Her grandfather, John Mitchell Heiskell, homesteaded the Old Coppermine Ranch, and her family played a significant role in the area's development. Mary Grace served as Court Clerk at the Clovis Justice Court for many years and was active in local events alongside her husband, Bill, a dedicated volunteer fireman.

Inducted into the Clovis Hall of Fame in 1980, Mary Grace's contributions to the community were celebrated for decades. She reminisced about her childhood in a simpler, closely-knit Clovis, where families gathered for picnics, church events, and local dances. Her vivid memories capture the essence of early Clovis life, marked by hard work, creativity, and strong community bonds. Mary Grace's legacy continues to be felt in the fabric of Clovis's history.
