Ken Curtis


Ken Curtis was inducted into the Clovis Hall of Fame in 2008 under entertainment. Ken Curtis started his entertainment career in 1938 after moving to Hollywood and becoming a staff singer on NBC Radio, where composer Jonny Mercer and singer Jo Stafford heard him. He sang briefly with the late Tommy Dorsey, who changed his name from Curtis Gates to Ken Curtis. He joined the Army in 1943 and returned to Hollywood after the war. He would go on to sing "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" and from 1947 to 1952 he would be a member of the Sons of the Pioneers. Curtis would star in movies and shows, such as, "Wagonmaster", "The Searchers", and Have a Gun Will Travel", Rawhide, and "Gunsmoke".
