Kaden Ferretti

Nearly 30 years ago Kaden Ferretti approached the Clovis Lions Club with an idea for a community service project - a project to give a bit of dignity to foster children. She heard a news story on the radio concerning the placement of foster children in Fresno and Madera counties. Often times these children carried all of their possessions, clothing, shoes, and personal things in plastic bags when they moved to foster homes.

Her dream was for each foster child in the local care program to have their very own suitcase. The initial goal was to purchase fifty suitcases, one per foster child, with each one to contain a stuffed lion, the symbol of he Lions Club. Little did she knw it would become a nationwide and ultimately a world-wide activity and recognized service project the would touch the lives of thousands of foster children.

Locally the program has grown to more than a stuffed lion in the suitcases. Now basic toiletries, backpacks, school supplies, socks, blankets and more have been added.

"Kases for Kids" as the project has become known has the support of the entire community and other service organizations and clubs, such as the Clovis Lions Club, Clovis Rotary, Clovis Soroptimist have joined in support of the program.

She is also a volunteer with the Clovis Fire Department's Emergency Response Team.
