Harold L. Woods was inducted into the Clovis Hall of Fame in 2017. He was honored for his leadership and devotion to the youth of Clovis Unified Schools as well as the involvement of his entire family that helped build and develop the Clovis Community.
Born in Missouri, Wood’s parents moved to Clovis not long after he was born. He attended Clovis Elementary and Clovis High School. He graduated from Fresno State and entered the teaching field. He would serve as a classroom teacher at Jefferson until 2001, some forty-six years later.
He was named Gamma Psi ‘Master Teacher’ of the year by California State University. The Jefferson Parent-Teacher Club awarded him the ‘Service Award’ and ‘Golden Key’ Honors. In 1996, he received the Clovis Unified Crystal Award as well as CUSD Teacher of the Year. In 2001, the Jefferson community honored him by naming the new Jefferson Media Center the “Harold Woods Library”. In 2005, the Clovis Unified Governing Board named their newest school the “Harold L. Woods Elementary School”.
