Gene Shimizu

Gene was born in 1949 in Clovis at the Clovis Hospital on Pollasky. He grew up on a farm where his family raised peaches and plums. He attended Dry Creek School through 8th grade and then went on to Clovis High where he excelled in sports. He earned  MVP status for Football and Wrestling. He graduated in 1968 and went on to Fresno State. His career has included  teaching at Jefferson Elementary,  Alta Sierra Golf Coach. He is loved by all students he has contact with.  He has been Judge for the cooking contests at the Clovis Senior Center, Recreation Director the the Memorial District, Principal at the Japanese American Citizens League, President at Clovis Community Church. He has a strong commitment to serve others and to contribute to the community.
