Gene Ford

Gene Ford started his career in the car industry by sweeping floors at Rodman Chevrolet in the 1930s. He later bought into, and eventually, was the sole owner of Gene Ford Chevrolet in Visalia. He later purchased Rodman Chevrolet in Fresno and founded Frontier Chevrolet, the largest dealership west of the Mississippi River in the 1960s. He was a great contributor to the Clovis community. He was a Clovis Community Hospital board member, served as a Clovis Community Bank board director and was a member of the Clovis-Big Dry Creek Clovis Historical Society and Rotary International. He was a member of the Clovis Rodeo Association and was named Clovis Rodeo Parade grand marshal in 1988. Ford’s other achievements include being a charter member of the Fresno Metropolitan Museum, serving as president of the Fresno City/County Chamber of Commerce, serving on the CSUF board, Fresno School of Business, and volunteering with 4-H and the Future Farmers of America.
