Blayne and Jan Thomas won the 2013 Clovis Hall of Fame Friend of Youth Award. Blane was attending University at the University of California Los Angeles where hw met and married Jan Larson, Soon, thereafter, they relocated to the Clovis area where he completed his studies at Fresno State University.
Jan established the Jan Thomas Swim School in Clovis in 1958. Jan pioneered infant swimming in the San Joaquin Valley in 1956 and has subsequently taught more than 56,000 children to swim. Jan is a past president of the Unites States Swim School Association and a USSSA Hall of Fame inductee and served on the USSSA Task Force for Infant Swim Teacher Certification and is a Charter member of the World Congress of Aquatic Babies Education.
Blane was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints serving in many capacities, including that of bishop of the University Young Single Adult Ward and two years in the presidency of the Fresno California Temple.
In 1966 lane was elected to the Clovis City Council where, among other things, he was responsible for the launch of the cities first recreational department. In 1970 he served on the Board of Trustees of the Clovis Better Business Bureau and, 25 years, on the Clovis Cemetery District Board of Directors. Blayne also served and guided, those in need, at the Fresno County Juvenile Hall and to hundreds of others in a church-sponsored Boy Scout as a Scoutmaster and a Cub Scoutmaster.
