Al Goud

Al Goud was inducted into the Clovis Hall of Fame in 2014. Al was born in Clovis in 1942 and lived most of his life here. Attending Clovis High he was known for his athletic ability enjoying baseball, softball, and football. He was a member of the Clovis Future Farmers of America (FFA), and in 1958 he became a member of a three-man team that won the California State and National Champion Meat Judging and Evaluation Team. Two years later in 1960, Al became President of the Clovis FFA Chapter. During college, he competed in amateur rodeos. In 1964 he became a Professional Rodeo Cowboy competing in calf roping and steer wrestling. In 1977 Al returned to Clovis and became a full-time saddle maker and designer of leather items. Al was known not only locally but nationally for his leather design ability and saddle-making. He would travel to teach leather techniques at various events. He received the coveted "Al Stohlman Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2009.
