Walter Buster was inducted into the Clovis Hall of Fame in 1996 as the Citizen of the Year. Nominated for his contribution to the community via education, during a time of uncertainty and lack of confidence in the Clovis Unified School District. He was able to quell this uncertainty and confidence deficiency shortly after taking the role of superintendent. He was known as an extremely approachable, accessible, and reliable individual who always supported the community's interests and held its philosophy of putting children first.
