The Sagniere Family

Joseph Sagniere Sr. immigrated from France to the United States, eventually arriving in the Fresno area in 1891. He bought his first 20 acres and set up vineyards and peach orchards. Fast forward to 1916 and you will find Joseph Sr. helping cook over 2000 pounds of beef and beans in support of the first Clovis Days Festival, the precursor of the Clovis Rodeo. The children, grand children and great grand children, as well as extended family members, were strong supporters of Clovis and the Clovis Rodeo.  Mary Sagniere's husband, Emmett Rigsbee served as Clovis Rodeo Grand Marshall in 1992.  Emmett and Mary's two sons, Chuck and Dan, served as members of the Clovis Rodeo Association, and Directors and President of the Rodeo Board.   Tara Sagniere, great grand daughter of Joe Sr, was selected as Clovis Rodeo Queen in 1997.
