Shirley Price was born 1895 in LeGrand and began teaching in 1915.
She married Travis Pendergrass in 1919 and they moved to Clovis where Shirley she began teaching at a number of Clovis schools throughout her 39 year career retiring in 1956. Shirley was considered a "Master teacher". She used teaching theories long before theories became popular.
In 1953 she was named Clovis Mother of the year.
Travis Pendergrass was a pharmacist and former Clovis Mayor as well as a member of the Hall of Fame.
About 1933 Shirley and Travis were named Chairmen of the board for the March of Dimes and Shirley Continued her role as Chairman after the death of her husband until about 1958.
Shirley was a Chairman at the Salvation Army and Red Cross in Clovis for several years.
