Shelby Cox was inducted into the Clovis Hall of Fame in 1999 for his service to the public. He served 35 years in the Clovis police Department; his duties included patrol, investigation, traffic, and records. He founded several of the Clovis Police Departments more popular programs. One such program is the Explorer Post more than 20 years ago, and was the original organizer of the Clovis Neighborhood Watch Program. Both Programs are still very active within the community. He also authorized several grants for the Department, including the departments first traffic enforcement grant, designed to help eliminate drunk driving.
