Sharer Family

Tom, Jerry and Bill Sharer (Sharer Family) were inducted into the City of Clovis Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame as Founders. Their parents were Wilbur (Dutch) and Nora McCarter Sharer. The Sharer brothers were raised east of Clovis on their parent’s ranch. Wilbur Sharer was superintendent of County Road District 2 and Nora was a teacher at Luther Weldon Elementary School in Clovis.

Tom went to work for Fresno County in the Ag Department in 1947 as a Weed Control Foreman, then left to serve his country in the US Air Force as an Inflight Radar Technician for 4 years before returning to the Department and earning Senior Ag Inspector in 1960, then Assistant Ag Commissioner in 1984 until his retirement in 1987.

Gerald served in the Navy during World War II. He then commenced working at Pacific Gas & Electric Co. He was Master of Clovis Masonic Lodge No. 417 in 1963.

Bill Sharer was a rancher and foreman with the Fresno County Public Works Department.
