Larry Vietty

Larry Vietty was inducted into the 1998 Clovis Hall of Fame. Larry joined the Clovis Police Department in 1972 being particularly interested in supporting the young people of Clovis. He was a driving force in establishing the football and baseball Boys Leagues. He was a founding Board member of P.A.L. (the Police Activities League). Larry chaired the Y's Men 4th of July Fireworks stand which is the major part of their budget.  He was instrumental for gathering funds and building the concession stand and ice machine at Bicentennial Park. He was a part of a small group of volunteers that started the Big Hat Festival at the Rodeo grounds and was so successful it has become a city event. Due to his caring, courteous,  fair concern for the people of Clovis, Larry has become an intricate part of the Food Basket program for the needy in Clovis which started with 15 baskets and in 1997 had over 400 baskets were prepared which included toys, blankets and toys. He has been on the Chambers board and continues to be an intragal part of the development of Clovis.
