Joe Rodriguez was inducted into the Clovis Hall of Fame in 1997. At that time, he owned Emil’s Barber Shop in Old Town Clovis, the oldest established business in Clovis that was still in its original location. He was the fifth owner of the downtown barber ship since its founding in 1906. Rodriguez worked at the barber shop since 1951 when it was owned by Emil Prudek, and he purchased the shop from Prudek’s widow in 1980. After graduating from Clovis High School in 1946, he attended barber college and enlisted in the Navy, serving three years in Alaska. After his military service, Rodriguez began working in Clovis. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and joined the American Legion Cecil Cox in 1952.
