James G. Ferguson

James G. Ferguson is mainly identified with the Clovis Flume, highly involved in the lumber industry from San Fransisco to the Puget Sound area. James was a Fresno County Pioneer!  He arrived in Fresno in 1893 and later moved to Clovis. In 1886 James married Ada Florence and had one daughter. James is known as the director of Shaver Lake Lumber Company that took over the Fresno Flume and Lumber Company in 1919. He also served as the first Clovis postmaster, the Clovis post office was officially established in 1895 at the lumber company’s mill yard.
