Ed Keeneaster

Ed Keeneaster was born in Oklahoma in 1902. The family soon moved to Wilcox, Arizona where he grew up. After his graduation he and his brother Joe came to California and landed in Clovis in 1919.

Joe bought the small Clovis Theater and the two brothers operated it for several years. Ed also worked part time in a local packing house where he met and soon married Mildred Maden. Ed purchased the Clovis Steam Laundry on Clovis Ave.

In 1931 Ed became Mayor of Clovis. The population at that time was about 800. Ed was Captain of the Civil Defense in Clovis during WWII.

After Ed sold the laundry, he went to work at the Clovis Furniture Co. and soon opened his own used furniture store on the Corner of Clovis and Barstow at his residence.

In the 1970's Ed sold the corner and retired.

Ed was a life member of the Masonic Lodge in Clovis. He was always proud to be a resident of Clovis.
