Earl Wright Jr. was inducted into the Clovis Hall of Fame in 1997 as the Citizen of the Year. After graduating high school he served two tours of duty in Vietnam, 1964-65 and 1968-69, as an advisor to the Vietnamese military units. For his service he was honored with a Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medals and numerous ribbons. He then went on to obtain his Bachelors of Arts in mass communication. Following his journey through post secondary education, he began his career in journalism at 5 different cities until settling at The Clovis Independent as Publisher/Editor. He was involved in the community serving as president of the Clovis Rotary Club, president of the Clovis-Sierra Division of the American Heart Association, member of the Clovis Unified School District Communication Advisory Committee, and Clovis Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame Committee.
