Earl Smittcamp was elected to the Clovis Hall of Fame in 1976 for his business and professional contributions to the community. A native of the Central Valley and graduate of Fresno State University, he served as an officer in the Marine Corps and participated in four island invasions in the Pacific Theater. In 1945 he bought a 200-acre farm in Clovis with the core of the farm in peaches. The Farm and business grew to include Wawona Orchards and Wawona Frozen Foods and Wawona Packing. In 1971 he acquired the Lyons Magnus company. He served Clovis as a Rodeo Board member and as President of the Clovis Veterans Memorial District. He made great contributions to the larger community through his service and investments in Fresno State University and St. Agnes Medical Center.
