Duane & Irma Wamsley

Duane Wamsley was born in 1925 and was a native of Clovis. He graduated from Clovis High School and played on the championship football and basketball teams his senior year. Irma also attended Clovis High School and was named Clovis Rodeo Queen her junior year. Then in 1942 for the Rodeo Parade Duane was chosen as the Grand Marshall having been the youngest Grand Marshall in the history of the parade. He also won it for a second time in 2014 honoring all prior Marshalls and the 100th year of the Clovis Rodeo. Duane had met Irma on a blind date in 1941 and they later married They have two children. Duane then pursued his career as a member of the Clovis City Council and was both treasurer and the planning director for the City of Clovis. Duane and his wife Irma, who passed in 1997,  were members of the Clovis United Methodist Church for over 65 years.
