Christopher Kastner was inducted into the Clovis Hall of Fame in 2001 for his professional contributions to the community. He began his journey at the age of 16 as an apprentice of a butcher in Liberty, New York. He would go on to take his trade to Clovis in 1891; while in Clovis he would become a business partner and later owner of the Peterson business, renaming it Clovis Central Market. Mr. Kastner took an active interest in the affairs of his home community. He was a former City Councilman and former director of the First National Bank of Clovis. He served as Master of Clovis Masonic Lodge in 1940, and Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Stars. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Shrine of Sciots. Upon his death in 1954 Mr. Kastner was known as "Clovis's oldest business man."
