Charles Preuss

Charles Pruess Sr. was elected to the Clovis Hall of Fame in 1976 for his business and professional contributions to the community. A peach grower in the Garfield District, he was very active in the promotion of agriculture among the youth of the area. He organized the Fresno County Junior Farm Bureau and the Fresno County 4H Club. As a member of the Junior Farm Bureau, he helped to revitalize the defunct Fresno District Fair in 1934. He served as President of the Clovis Farm Bureau and served as a Trustee of various schools including Garfield and Clovis High School. He was involved in his church and the Lion’s and Elk’s Clubs. He served on the Fresno County Planning Commission for over 17 years. Over his career he served the county and state farm bureaus in various capacities. During the Second World War he served as chairman of the Clovis District Red Cross Drive and the Gasoline and Tire Rationing Board.
