Byrum & Wanda Bingham were inducted into the Clovis Hall of Fame in 2010 as the Citizen of the Year. In 1934, Byrum also known as "Bing" joined the Navy and was assigned to the boiler room of a ship. He asked to be transferred to flight school just before WWII. He retired form the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander. During his Navy years, from 1947 to 1949, he did the first aerial photography mapping of the State of Alaska from 20,000 feet, in an old airplane that had difficulty getting to 20,000 feet. Upon retirement Bing, with little knowledge about the car business, opened a Volkswagen Dealership in Redding California. After 17 years of successful business he sold the company. In 1972 Mr. and Mrs. Bingham opened Toyota on Shaw in Clovis and after 36 years of successful business he sold the company. Bing and his loving wife Wanda have made millions in donations; giving away vehicles, turkeys, jackets, checks, and raising money. They have donated and assisted Hinds Hospice, Salvation Army, Marjorie Mason Center, CSUF fundraisers, scholarships, Miramonte Elementary School, needy families on the holidays, Clovis Senior Center, and March of Dimes.
